This is a copy from a 6th century icon in the museum of St. Catherine Monastery, Sinai. It is one of the oldest icons in existence and was originally created in encaustic.

This icon is in the private collection of Mar Sarhad Jammo, Chaldean Bishop of the Eparchy of St. Peter the Apostle (retired), El Cajon, CA.

Red St. Nicholaus

St. Nicholaus of Myra, Patron of Sailors

This Icon was one of two written under the direction of Sr. Grisella, Florence, Italy. It is a copy of an ancient icon showing St. Nicholaus as the patron of sailors. They are shown with one looking to St. Nicholaus for protection, one looking at the black devils fouling the rigging, and one fainting in the bottom of the boat.
